Building Homes for Tornado Victims
Houses are being built for two families who were victims of the Big Stone Gap tornado from earlier this year. The families are paying for the materials while volunteers are doing the construction. The initiative and organization came from a partnership of Patrick Johnson, VBMB Disaster Relief Coordinator for the southwest VA region, the Clinch Valley Baptist Association, the Wise Baptist Association, and Big Stone Gap Baptist Church.
VBMB Disaster Relief provided $5,000 to assist with the project. This money was used primarily for start-up costs and to provide necessities to enable volunteers to accomplish the work.

Virginia Baptists Assist with Home Rebuild
Virginia Baptist Disaster Relief and construction missions volunteers in the Southwest Region, with primary
involvement from the Wise and Clinch Valley Baptist Associations, will be assisting two families by building
houses for each. Funding for the materials is being provided by the homeowners.
Volunteers are providing
the labor. VBMB Disaster Relief is providing $5000 to launch the project and to provide for needs that will
allow the volunteers to do the work. The houses will be framed in early June. |
